Revolutionary: Using Lipliner for Coloured, Defined Brows

A little while ago, I went to an event.  As I sat down on a makeup artist's chair, she said:

"Oh, let me just touch up your brows a little"

I panicked.

"You're not going to fill them in with brown eyebrow pencil are you?"

said I, quaking in my pink hair, terrified of weird non-matching brown eyebrows.

"Of course not, I'm going to use pink lip liner.  You'll get a good shade match and it'll hold better than eyeshadow."

said she.  And thus, my eyebrow routine was changed forever and I embarked upon a quest to find the perfect pink lip liner to use on my brows.

MAC Lip Liner in Cranberry

MAC Lip Liner in Cranberry is a pretty hard pencil, and gives a strongly coloured look.  Because the pencil is firm, it doesn't really do anything to set the brows into a shape, just adds colour.

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner in Pink Princess

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner is a pretty creamy, emollient affair, and whilst the Pink Princess colour is a good match for my hair, the creaminess of the product looks a little shiny on my brows.  It does keep every hair in place, though.

Revlon Color Stay Lip Liner in Pink

Revlon Color Stay Lip Liner has become my favourite so far - it's pliable enough without being overly creamy, and holds my brows in place without having a shiny finish.  The Pink shade is a reasonable match for my hair, too.

Since that fateful day when a makeup artist took a lip pencil to my brows, I've been sold on using lip liner as a brow colour - and it's reminded me that makeup isn't necessarily all about sticking to the rules.  If I ever go blue or purple on my hair, I'll start looking at eyeliners for my brows.
