Too Faced are good at palettes - and one of this year's Christmas offerings is an absolute corker. A Few Of My Favourite Things may be quite wordy, and even worse put a certain annoying song in your head, but it's full of gorgeously soft eyeshadows and well pigmented cheek products, and comes with a mini mascara and a lipstick. What more could you need? Read on for an in-depth, picture heavy review and EVEN BETTER! A competition to win one of your very own.
The palette itself comes in a gold-and-pink chevron-adorned PU makeup bag, and inside the bag you'll also find a mini Better Than Sex mascara and a full size Colour Bomb lip tint in Bee Sting. That little makeup bag, then, contains everything you need for a complete face, apart from foundation. The palette opens up like a book, and contains a whopping twenty eyeshadows, and four cheek products.
The pattern continues on the inside, with pink and gold stripes wrapping their way around the inner casing. The eyeshadows are an eclectic mix of matte, shimmer and glitter shades, and whilst there are a fair number of neutrals, there are also a couple of more intense shades to add a pop of colour to your look. I like that there are no wildly bright shades, with the exception of Ooh la Orchid, which just so happens to be pretty close to Pantone's Colour of 2014.
Cheek product wise, Too Faced have given us four decently sized pans - two blush, and two bronzer. As usual for Too Faced, they've provided a leaflet of looks which gives you ideas on how to use the colours in the palette - great if you're stuck in a makeup rut and looking for new ideas. My only criticism is that for taking up such a big chunk of the palette, it's a pretty small and limited leaflet - perhaps a few mini-brushes would have been appreciated.
Anyway, on with the swatching!
Left to right: Snowflakes, Whiskers on Kittens, Chocolate Milk, Moon on Their Wings, Dark Chocolate |
Left to right: Cream Coloured Ponies, Honey Honey, Buche de Noel, Evergreen, Blue Satin Sashes |
Left to right: Coquet, Taffy, Crisp Apple Strudel, Woolen Mittens, Soiree |
Left to right: Tinsel, Bluff, Ooh la Orchid, Party Time, Pure Glam |
All of the eyeshadows are soft, beautifully blendable, and well pigmented. Some shades (such as Party Time, Blue Satin Sashes and Soiree) have glitter in a matte base, and although the glitter shows up in the pan, it doesn't really translate as strongly onto the eye.

And finally, here are some photos of an FOTD using this set - specifically the weekend look.
And now.... I have one of the A Few Of My Favourite Things palettes to give away! This is going to be a short, sharp weekend giveaway - it opens today, and closes on Sunday night. I'll choose a winner at random on Monday, and the prize will be sent out shortly thereafter. You don't just get the palette though... you'll also receive a beautiful coffee table book, Interiors, showcasing the work of Mary McDonald. She's not a household name in the UK, but she is well known in the US for her interior design work. She also designed the pattern and packaging for this palette, as well as some of the other Too Faced Christmas offerings.
