Urban Decay Shattered Face Case for Christmas 2013

Another day, another part of Urban Decay's Christmas 2013 offering.  Today it's the turn of the Shattered Face Case - and this one is sure to be a hit with Urban Decay collectors.  All the past Face Cases have been insanely popular.  This one sports a pretty, faceted design in the lid, and two layers of products for the whole face.

The dark purple casing is sturdy plastic, and feels like it'd survive being in your handbag pretty well.  The two layers are accessed via the snaps in the front - it can be difficult to open the right layer, as the closures are pretty close to each other, but I've found that using my thumbnail to pop the closure open works pretty well (assuming your thumbnails are strong).

Top row: Lovechild Super Saturated HIgh Gloss Lip Colour; middle row: Nameless, Remix, Shakedown, Minor Sin and Bleach eyeshadows; bottom row:  Zero 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil

The top level contains five exclusive shades of shadow, a mini 24/7 Glide On liner in Zero, and a Super Saturated lip colour in Lovechild, a neutral pink.

The shadows are mostly shimmery - Bleach, the shade on the right edge, is the only matte.  Whilst there is a pretty purpleish shade in there in the form of Remix, most of the shades are on the nude/brown spectrum, albeit a very smoky nude/brown with a hefty dose of shimmer.

Top row:  Lovechild Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour; Bottom row:  Overexposed and Temper blushes, Glint highlighter
The lower layer contains two blush shades, and a highlighter.  The Super Saturated lip colour drops down from the top layer.  Both layers contain decent sized mirrors.

All of the above, applied to my mug.  The only thing you really need to add is foundation, brow colour and mascara, and then you've got a complete look from the one palette.  In the photo above I'm wearing Minor Sin, Shakedown and Remix eyeshadows, Zero eyeliner, Temper blush, Glint highlighter and Lovechild lip colour.

Overall, I'm really impressed with this palette - it's great for travel, it contains enough shadows to make a few day-to-night looks which work well with the included blush, highlighter and lip colours, and everything is high quality, as you'd expect from Urban Decay.  At £30, I think it's a bit of a bargain.  Grab it now before it sells out.
