Review: Bourjois Twist Up The Volume Mascara
Bourjois have released a couple of very interesting things recently - and the one that made me squee embarassingly loudly at the launch was this rather innovative mascara. It's called Twist Up The Volume, and the innovation comes from that little white bit on the top of it. Grip it and twist, and the mascara wand moves between two different shapes to allow you to get two different looks. HOW COOL IS THAT???
Untwisted, the brush is a fairly standard plastic bristle affair, with a long, straight wand. This configuration gives you definition and length.
Yup, definitely does give defined length. The amount of volume is also pretty good. Please ignore the fact I've managed to smudge it on my eyelid. Thanks.
When you twist the end, the brush contracts, bringing the bristles closer together and arranging them in a twisty manner. This setting gives you "oversize volume".
And wow, that's definitely a very voluminous set of lashes right there.
I'm really impressed by this product. It's rare to see something a bit unusual in the beauty market - so much is just variations on shade and texture that seeing something really new is very exciting indeed. It's also impressive to see a dual-effect mascara that actually delivers on its promises. Definitely worth picking up when it launches in October - particularly for a mere £10.99.

Wow, I'm impressed! I saw this one being *new* here in the Netherlands and I didn't expect it to be a great mascara. I've never had any good experiences with those adjustable brushes. The result on the second pic is amazing though!
ReplyDeleteIf I'm honest I wasn't expecting much - but it's really great stuff! I've been using it for the past few weeks and it's impressive - I like one coat with the brush straight, and then one coat twisted - gives massive volume and great length.
DeleteGreat post! Have you tried the Rimmel version of this? I think it's called Day 2 Night and claims to do similar things in terms of offering two looks in one mascara. I'd really like to see a comparison between the two.
ReplyDeleteI remember trying a multi-use Rimmel mascara which basically just coated the brush in more mascara for the high volume option, but I'll go check out the Day 2 Night one - comparison coming soon! :)
DeleteThis sounds great, definitely one for me to try when it comes out! x
ReplyDeleteI bought and tried it today and I have to say that I'm in love with this mascara! :) It makes beautiful lashes! :3
