Makeup Forever Pro Finish Compact Foundation

I picked up this shiny little round compact on a recent trip to the US, where Makeup Forever is more accessible, being in every branch of Sephora.  I went in with the intention of buying some kind of compact I could cart around with me, to touch up when my makeup started to fall off my face.  I wanted something more than a pressed powder, but nothing heavy.

The makeup artist recommended Makeup Forever Pro Finish foundation, a powder foundation which can be worn two ways: dry for a full coverage, matte finish, or wet for a sheerer, semi matte finish.

The compact itself feels sturdy, being made of relatively thick black plastic.  The product itself is in a separate tray inside the compact, which flips up to reveal a sponge in the bottom casing.

Shade 115, Pink Ivory

The effect, applied dry, is pretty high coverage - and with my skin having decided to go back to its teenage years, I'm in need of high coverage.  You can hardly tell I have a fair number of red, irritated spots and that my pores are a little enlarged thanks to blackheads.  It is a fairly matte finish, but that's something I'm willing to trade for the coverage and the easy-to-cart-around format.  This has quickly become my new favourite touch up - it applies nicely atop other foundations which are on their way out, and it lasts well, even when it's hot and sticky and I'm sweating glowing a fair bit.

Unfortunately, Makeup Forever is a little hard to find in the UK, with a limited number of suppliers stocking the brand, and prices being somewhat high.  Guru Makeup Emporium stocks Pro Finish, albeit at a whopping £28.50.  I paid around $38 for mine, which works out slightly cheaper at £24.

  1. Eeee I've had my eye on this for a while! I love what bits I've got from MUFE either from Guru or Sephora when I go on holiday, I wish it was easier to get hold of. I don't think my purse would though...
