Lip of the Day: Burberry Lip Velvet in Pink Azelea

This is Pink Azelea, one of Burberry's latest Lip Velvet lipsticks.  They promise a long wearing, "radiant" matte finish, which remains comfortable on the lips throughout the day.

Packaged in swanky matte packaging to match the matte lipstick within, the bullet is beautifully embossed with Burberry's signature tweedy pattern.

The finish is indeed matte, and although I kinda think that "radiant matte" is a little bit of a paradox, it does describe the velvety texture.  This isn't your average flat, chalky matte at all.  It's also pretty comfortable on the lip, gliding on smoothly from the bullet and settling down to a emollient but not too slippy finish.

Wear wise, I agree that it's a long wearing product.  I've had up to five hours wear before it starts to become a little too dry: whilst it is generally comfortable on the lip, the longer you wear it, the less comfortable it becomes.  At £22.50, this is a luscious yet spendy matte lipstick - I like the modern matte finish, and I like the generally comfortable texture.  Available on counters now.
