US drugstore Lippmann dupes

If I were Deborah Lippmann, I'd be reminding myself that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. The hex glitter polishes that were her hallmark are everywhere at the moment, but I've never seen anything quite so blatantly "inspired" as these two dupes I picked up in the States recently.

Revlon's Whimsical (430). Compare to Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air

Deborah Lippman Happy Birthday (left), and Milani Jewel FX polish in Gems (right).

And 2 coats of each polish, swatched, same order. (On, er, a chewing gum packet. My nails were busy.)

Have you spotted any nail polish dupes lately? Are there any UK dupes we should know about?

  1. I might actually use that as a swatching technique, being that I have no nails, and that's muuuch easier to photograph xD

    1. Only works with this sort of gum though, not the kind in silver wrapping :)

    1. I went through a stage of being obsessed with them, probably because I used to frequent the mac_cosmetics livejournal community which was obsessed with cheap dupes of MAC colours. People used to do huge great lists of dupes. Temptalia (also a mac_cosmetics veteran) is a good place to go for dupe advice.

  3. I like the improvised nailwheel..and the foresight of using a packet that is shaped like square nails.

I'm always put off the Lipmann stuff because although it looks gorgeous in the bottle, it's never the same on your nails..and her polishes aren't cheap.

I still maintain that Models Own do fantastic glitter polishes..and I have them all, apart from that pink one, Pink Fizz I think it is? However, that Milani one is defintely on my buy list..once I crack open the two packs of Color Club polish I bought at Xmas and haven't given a second glance to.

    1. Rham, that is how I roll *chews gum*.

I love Lippmann glitters. I actually find that her glitters are the only ones where you don't need to prod the flakes into place, because there's such a generous amount per bottle. I bought Happy Birthday and don't regret it, although I've got to say the Milani is just as glitter-packed.

I saw some multi-packs of Colour Club glitters in TK Maxx recently. It took a lot of willpower to put them down before I reached the till.
