I've often favoured high end mascaras, finding that they have all the longevity, oomph, and ease of use that high street brands can lack. No 7, though, consistently produce excellent high street mascara that really delivers - at a fairly reasonable price. So, when I spotted the new Extravagant Volume mascara in Boots the other day, I whipped out my wallet immediately.
The brush is one of those plastic ones with closely spaced, flexible but firm bristles, and it has a spiky end to allow you to nab every single lash, even the ones at the outer corner. As you can probably tell from the photo, the formula is a little on the thick side. If you're prepared to put a bit of work into application, wiggling the brush at from the root of the lashes to the tip, it doesn't really matter.
Two coats later, and my lashes are reasonably well defined with plenty of volume. Admittedly, you can see that some of the lashes are stuck together, but the finished look is plenty clean. Once dry, it lasts well, going all day without smearing, smudging or flaking.
