Le Métier de Beauté Returns via Zuneta

High end favourite Le Métier de Beauté, which left the UK last year amid too-soon expansion into Selfridges, has returned via the ever-wonderful Zuneta.  Predictably, the cult favourite Kaleidoscope palettes are already sold out, but there's still a good selection of product available.

Curiously, it seems that the brand has returned with a rather hefty price increase.  The Lip Gloss Lip Creme, which I have in Framboise and absolutely adore, now comes adorned with a £30 price tag compared to the £22 I paid at Liberty (admittedly two years ago).  I'm sure that the brand's biggest followers won't see this as a problem, particularly given that some fans have been investing in imports from the US, but I'm not sure I'll jump immediately into picking up more shades of the Lip Creme without a fair bit of thought.

Will you be rushing over to Zuneta to pick up Le Métier products?

  1. I suspect Le Metier left the UK because they weren't making sufficient profit margins last time. They came to the UK just as the pound dropped from nearly two dollars to the pound down to a dollar fifty (where it's stayed since.)

The higher prices at Zuneta are probably what they need to price it at to make the UK a viable market for them. SpaceNK quite regularly transfers at nearly $1 to £1 (although Zuneta has lower overheads in no bricks and mortar shops/sales staff.)

The increase on the eye pencils is eye watering though (excuse the bad pun!) - from £20 to £36. Can't see those selling.

    1. Ouch, £16 markup on an eyeliner is a bit insane!

  2. Le Metier de Beaute also tried to enter the french market, but it didn't last very long... They had a corner in the Printemps Haussmann, and I was very disappointed when they left, I adore the Lip Creme, and their eyeshadows...

    1. What were the prices like in France? I also love the Lip Creme, never tried the eyeshadows as I always secretly thought their "technique" was a bit of an excuse to sell you 4 eyeshadows instead of 1...
