NOTD - Deborah Lippmann Forget You

My new year's nails were Forget You, part of Deborah Lippmann's Get This Party Started box set (which I scurried to House of Fraser and bought after a ridiculously short-lived attempt to resist its glittery siren song).

Forget You is a black cream/jelly base (thick jelly/sheer creme - not sure where the line is drawn) loaded with multi-coloured hex glitter of differing sizes. It's a variant of the Lippmann classic Happy Birthday, and as far as I know is only available in this set.

As the pictures suggest, the glitter is absolutely packed into this polish, and it's easy to recreate the appearance in the bottle on your nails. This manicure is 3 coats, but 2 would have been enough to create an opaque black base with many layers of glitter showing through. I love how the glitter gets partially submerged in the black base, creating a 3D kind of effect.

This was a little gloopier and slower to dry than Happy Birthday worn alone. Once dried down with the help of Seche Vite, it wore for around 3 days before the tip-wear became obvious and loose glitter bits came loose and began to snag on things.

I can't lie - removal was a bloody nightmare, and lots of cotton wool pads laid down their lives in the effort to get all the glitter off my nails. For a special occasion though, this effect is well worth the effort, and attracted quite a lot of compliments.

Deborah Lippmann polishes are exclusive to House of Fraser. The Get This Party Started set is £28 for 3 polishes.

  1. "...and lots of cotton wool pads laid down their lives..." Hilarious! Absolutely stunning though. Disco balls on your nails!
