NOTD: Butter London The Black Knight

This colour is absolutely, totally gorgeous.  I love a bit of glitter, and this one is lovely - teeny tiny specks of sparkle in rainbow shades, but with a heavy pink/purple/blue bias on a black jelly base.  The first time I used it, I expected the black jelly base to be sheer as hell, so I layered a single coat on top of a grey cream.  The second time, however, I tried it alone - and found that two coats gives perfect opaque black coverage with beautiful sparkle.

Application was surprisingly smooth, too - the polish doesn't exactly glide onto the nail, but it doesn't require that manual glitter-prodding that some glitter polishes require.  Two coats did end up a little bit gritty and bumpy on the nail, but a good thick layer of topcoat sorted that out easily.  The Black Knight lasted reasonably well on the nails, too - three to four days with minimal tipwear before chips started appearing, which is impressive for something so dark.

Surprisingly, removal wasn't too painful - I did have to press a remover-soaked pad against my nails for a few minutes to loosen the glitter, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't really have to scrub my nails at all.

I've worn this shade several times since it arrived at my doorstep - and I can see myself continuing to wear it throughout the winter (and probably into spring too, given my hatred of pastels).  For a glitter lover, this is a must have.  Find it at The Beauty Booth for £12.
