Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in Retrograde

Urban Decay have now officially joined the ranks of brands offering inkwell-style polymer liners. Their offering is a new range of 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liners in the usual range of out-there brights and smouldering neutrals that UD is famed for.

I was expecting to see the pointed sponge tip common to most of the current crop of polymer liners, but when I opened the lid of Retrograde, I was met with one of the finest brushes I've ever seen, on any type of liner. It's acutely precise - UD says: "liquid lines so sharp they could cut glass", and they're not wrong.

Retrograde is an incredible colour. It's a very dark purple with pink and blue duochrome, and it absolutely glows on the eyes. I fell in love with it pretty much at first swatch. It's particularly good for bringing out the colour in green eyes, but like most purples I think it would suit anyone.

(Please excuse the spidery mascara here.)

Like all polymer liners, this one is subject to a bit of cracking and flaking, as the plastic formula sits on the skin rather than adhering closely to it like a wax or water-based formula would. But it's not too bad, and can easily be touched up. Also, it won't smudge, which is always a bonus.

There's also a bit of a risk I'll use it as an art tool, it's so satisfying to draw with...

Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liners are out now, priced at £14. Debenhams currently have all Urban Decay at 10% off, so you can get one for £12.60.

  1. That is such a gorgeous colour. There seems to be a real lack of good purple liners. Might have to pick this up.

  2. Brilliant timing! I was "researching" MAC's superslick eyeliners the other day and one from a limited edition came up, it's called Smokey Heir and it was black/purple with lovely purple glitter in..i.e. the same as what you've just posted so thanks!
