NOTD: Illamasqua Faux Pas

Part of Illamasqua's recently released Theatre of the Nameless collection, Faux Pas has a matte, rubber like finish.  I've never really been keen on matte polishes, but for some reason, I'm really liking this one - there's still a dull shine, and the texture does look quite rubbery.  Makes a change from the ultra-shimmer, ultra-high gloss that I usually wear!

Faux Pas applied incredibly thickly - this isn't a polish that can be layered up in thin coats.  Two coats, applied quickly with the rather decently shaped brush, gives plenty of opacity and a smooth finish.  Drying time was average, and wear is okay - tipwear sets in relatively quickly, not least because the unique texture means that you can't really use a topcoat.

Faux Pas costs £13.50 from Illamasqua concessions and from their website.  I'm quite tempted by Kink, a rubber finish bottle green.  Vice, a muted fuschia and Taint, a dirty brown, are also available in the same rubberised finish.  What do you think?  Tried these?  Like the look of the finish?  Let us know in the comments!

  1. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I guess I'd have to try it out on my own nails.

  2. I really like it, to me it seems a lot nicer than a flat matte. I love the look of this one, Vice and Kink.

  3. I've been drooling over these ever since the first sneak peeks were posted... I really don't like matte polishes, but these look great!
