Review: Naked Bounce Curl Defining Conditioner

We love a bit of Naked here at LBR.  Naked Bounce was one of the products I bought with my Groupon voucher, and I bought it because I'm a sucker for anything that claims to help define curls.  Being a Naked product, it's free of nasties such as silicones and parabens, and it's also reasonably priced, at £3.99 for a 250ml tube.

All of the conditioners I've ever purchased that are targeted at curly hair have been thick, unctuous affairs which add some serious moisture to the hair.  Thus, I was very surprised to find that Naked's Bounce conditioner isn't actually all that thick, or all that moisturising.  It's still thick enough to form a glob in the palm of the hand rather than spreading out into a puddle, but it's surprisingly light once applied to the hair.

I rarely, if ever, brush my hair.  Brushing turns it into a massive ball of frizz.  When I wash my hair, then, I need a conditioner which has a decent amount of slip and stick to help with detangling.  I've found that Bounce conditioner doesn't actually do much to help me to detangle my hair - it doesn't coat the hair thickly enough, nor provide enough slip.  Despite not finding it suitable for detangling, I've still been getting a lot of use out of this product for washing.  It's light enough to provide a decent froth and leaves the hair feeling clean and hydrated.

If you have curly hair that tends to be weighed down or overmoisturised by rich conditioners, this is likely to be a good match for your hair.  If you're looking for something to tame the most unruly of curls, though, this is probably not going to rock your world, unless you wash your hair with conditioner.

Naked Bounce is available from Boots and direct from Naked's website.  Strangely, it will cost you 8p more at Boots (£4.07).  What do you think?  Tried this?  What's your favourite conditioner for curly hair?  Let us know in the comments!

  1. It costs more at Boots because the Naked bodycare website still uses the old VAT pricing (if I recall correctly).

I tend to mix this with the damage rescue conditioner (because I have incredibly dry hair) and find the two together work well. I'm trying the shine conditioner now and it's very VERY light. Too light. It goes into my palm substantial and onto my hair like water. But surprisingly enough...my hair feels really soft today! Rather puzzled.

I like the curl cream a lot.
