MeMeMe Long Wear Satin Lip Cream in Ruby Rich / Aphrodite

I recently got the chance to learn more about the newly-revamped MeMeMe brand, exclusive to Superdrug, which has been rescued from obscurity and transformed into a powerhouse of affordable dupe-tastic colour in the last year or so.

One of the products I've been playing with is the Long Wear Lip Colour in Ruby Rich, which as the name suggests is a full-on bright red. Each of these lipsticks has a classical goddess as its poster-girl, and Ruby Red's deity is Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of lurrrve.

The tube has a soft, tactile surface very similar to Nars products - it feels surprisingly luxe for this price point, although like Nars products it is destined to get very dusty and smudged in your makeup bag. The cap snaps off to reveal a standard bullet of lipstick.

The texture of this is quite slippy and light, but the pigment is vividly intense. It's quite similar in pigmentation and slip to our beloved NYX round lipsticks (which also have a classical nomenclature sort of vibe to them) - a little goes a long way.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this to those who are starting out with red lipsticks, because being so light and pigmented it has a tendency to travel (to teeth, or into fine lines around the mouth). However if you're a confident red-wearer with lots of lipliner and touch-up tricks up your sleeve, you're likely to find this very comfortable and pleasant to wear. It will need touching up around lunchtime, but at £8.50 this seems reasonable enough.

  1. We're still waiting on testers in our store, good to hear they're a nice quality lippy though. I love the packaging, I'm so glad they changed it. :)

  2. It looks absolutely gorgeous on you!

  3. Love the color but why is it called long wear if it travels?
