Lip of the Day: Estee Lauder Pure Color Sensuous Rouge in Orchid Surrender

As a confirmed lover of Estee Lauder's Pure Color lipsticks, I was keen to give one of their new Sensuous Rouge lipsticks a go.  They're intended to be the ultimate is moist, lip-loving colour, and with the main Pure Color line already offering great pigmentation with comfortable wear, I figured that these lipsticks would take it to the next level entirely.

One thing is certain - they are certainly moist, gliding off the bullet onto the lips with absolutely no work or warming required.  The colour applies relatively sheerly with the first pass over the lips, but with two passes provides good opacity with a beautiful sheen.

Given the levels of moisture and slip, these don't last half as long on the lips as the original Pure Color line.  I manage about three hours before the colour has dried down and worn off.  Despite the initial moisture hit, I've found that as the lipstick wears, it does dry out on the lips - it's not the lips themselves that become dry, rather that their coating of lipstick stops being emollient and dries down until it feels a little dry and waxy on the lip.

Overall - I can't help but feel a little disappointed in this lipstick, particularly as I have such love and regard for the original line.  I'd like it more if it dried down with a little less, well, dryness.  That said, I do love the colour and the sheen of the finish - so I'll be wearing this when I have a little more time to reapply throughout the day.  UIltimately though, I think I'll be sticking with the main Pure Color line rather than switching to these!

Pure Colour Sensuous Rouge is available now at Estee Lauder counters and online, where each lipstick will cost you £20.
