Hourglass Extreme Sheen Gloss in Siren

I couldn't help but notice that Hourglass cosmetics now have a stand at Liberty, in the newly refurbished beauty hall. Gemma and I were browsing one evening and I was irretrievably smitten by this insanely pigmented metallic red gloss. I'm not even a lipgloss person. But when you see these pictures I'm sure you'll understand where I was coming from.

The gloss comes in a sleek chromey-black tube (good, good) and applies with a brush-tipped wand. It smells like vanilla custard, but has no taste on the lips.

The texture is very smooth and balm-like, slippy and with no tackiness at all. It is incredibly pigmented, but due to the slip it shifts fairly easily - I'd want to wear a lipliner or matte lipstick underneath it as a base to avoid bare patches showing through if I were wearing this on a night out. After an hour or two it wears down to a faint orange red stain with a thin layer of metallic particles that glow in certain lights.

It costs a rather hefty £21, but for a colour this unique, I think it's worth it.

You can buy Hourglass cosmetics from Liberty in London, or online from Zuneta

  1. That's very unusual and looks lovely, it's certainly striking isn't it?

  2. Oh God oh God that is AMAZING! It's like a liquid ruby or something. I NEED it!

  3. This is gorgeous! I really want it.

  4. Wow that colour is hardcore! Even when it fades it still looks okay x

  5. I am convinced everybody owns this but me D: I want it so bad, whenever I'm within range of an Hourglass stockist I *have* to go in and swatch it and then squeal about how pretty it is to anyone that will listen!

  6. I have some liberty vouchers floating around that I've never used. I now know what I'm going to be buying with them!
