FOTD - using white eyeliner to offset red eyes

Not a very glam title, I know, but the main purpose of this full-face application was to make myself look healthy (and feel better) while suffering from a lingering cold. I woke up last weekend feeling decidedly underslept, and my eyes were looking red-rimmed.

I frequently use pale eyeliner to make my eyes look brighter, and on this occasion it worked like a charm. The one I use is GOSH Velvet Touch in Ice Blue, which is a matte baby blue shade. Pale beige tones also work well, although I recommend avoiding pure white, as it can look too stark and obvious.

I was excited to see that No 7's autumn collection contains two double-ended eyeliners with a pale beige for inner rims at one end and a brown for lash-line at the other end. There will be 2 shades - Mid Brown-Ivory and Dark Brown-Ivory, each costing £9.50 from 10 August 2011. They're limited edition.

Other products used;

  • Clinique Moisture Surge tinted moisturiser (shade 2)*
  • Illamasqua brow cake in Motto
  • Clinique Lash Building eyelash primer
  • No 7 Exception Definition mascara
  • Nars eyeshadow in Edie (solo), and Underworld (duo, both sides used)

Do you ever wear pale liner to counteract red-rimmed eyes? What are your recommendations?

  1. You look good to be suffering from a cold!

    I love the ice blue on the inner rims, that's such a "fashion" touch.

  2. I hadn't thought about using a light blue! I've only thought about whites, beiges and pale yellows. Makes sense though :)
