Review and swatches - Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Shadow Pencils

Disclosure - PR sample

Here are two shades from Urban Decay's new 24/7 Glide On Shadow Pencils collection, Mercury and Rehab. This new format is (yes, you've guessed it), an eyeshadow version of the famed 24/7 eyeliners, which we swatched en masse for you last week. Like their stablemates, they're pencils, but are much chunkier than the 24/7 liners and come in a new range of shades.

Here are the two Shadow Pencils with a) a regular 24/7 liner and b) my hand, to give you an idea of their size and shape:

Check out those chunky points!

The pencils do indeed "glide on", creating a highly-pigmented and well-defined line in one stroke.

I can't vouch for the other pencils in the collection, but Rehab and Mercury do not feature the glitter particles that many of the 24/7 liners have, which to me seems a good thing, as these go all over the lid and might look a bit OTT with glitter in them.

Here are the two colours applied. This is straight onto the lid, with no primer. It took literally 5 seconds to draw the colour on and blend it with a finger. Great for mornings.

Another plus point is how well the colours blend together. Here are Mercury and Rehab combined to make quite a nice dark taupe:

The final, and to my mind greatest string to the 24/7 Shadow Pencil's bow is the ability to last on the eye without creasing. I deliberately applied these without primer, expecting them to form oily stripes across my eyelids within a couple of hours, but was amazed/delighted to find that they stayed perfectly in place for over 7 hours.

There are 12 shades of 24/7 Glide On Shadow Pencil, costing £14 each. You can find them in branches of House of Fraser and Debenhams, or buy online from BeautyBay.
