Lip of the Day: YSL Rouge Volupte in Forbidden Burgundy

This is the first Rouge Volupte I've managed to get my hands on, and I absolutely love it.  The texture is incredibly silky and moist - it glides onto the lips and is almost too emollient until it sets down.  Beats Chanel's Rouge Coco in my view, which I found disappointingly patchy.  The finish is very slightly glossy, too.  This colour, #12 Forbidden Burgundy, is such an unusual shade - a deep, rich wine colour with a pinkish edge.

If you'd like to try one of these lipsticks for yourself (and I highly recommend you do, I rather think I'll be buying a few more), you'll find them at Boots and the usual department stores.  At around £22, they are expensive - but with their ultra luxe packaging and gorgeous texture, they'll definitely enhance any lipstick lover's collection.

  1. That shade is beautiful! I've seen the packaging on other blogs and it's lovely. Definitely something I'd like to uncover in my makeup case :) I'd love to indulge in such a purchase - need a job first!

  2. Wow the colour is just beautiful. And I'm sure it's great, but £22? :/ not for me!

  3. I do own this shade, it was one of my first reds and I love it because of the creamy texture the RV have.
