Bon Voyage - Travelling Light

Gemma here.  Tomorrow morning I'll be jetting off to New York for a week to celebrate my second wedding anniversary with my husband.  Well, that's what he thinks; I'm going for Sephora!

In the interest of travelling light (or rather, leaving plenty of room in my makeup bag for new purchases), I'm taking a small core of my (extensive) eyeshadow and blush collection.  I've packed:
  • Urban Decay Naked palette (surely enough eyeshadow for a week..?)
  • Laura Geller Babycakes baked blush palette
  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
  • Le Metier de Beaute concealer
  • Bare Escentuals mascara
  • Chanel eyebrow pencil
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Only 5 lipsticks (which, given that I usually have around 10 in my bag, is pretty impressive for me)
What do you think, could you manage to travel lighter?  Or do you pack more makeup for all occasions?

Anyway - plenty of posts scheduled up to keep you entertained over the coming week from both myself and Sarah, and with any luck there'll be a few US only products making their way home in my suitcase to be given away to you lot.  If you've got any suggestions of things you might like to try.. leave a comment, and I'll see what I can find!

  1. I always overpack, I don't know it is in me that makes me think that I'll need everything. If I haven't used something for months, you'd think I'd leave it at home but not, it goes with me. Even when I go to stay at my parents' house, I take things I haven't used for ages on the off chance I will need it.

Btw, lol @ "streamlining..or saving space for new things", I do the exact same.

The boy is going to Canada for a week on Monday and I've given him a rather long list of things I need so hopefully he manages to get them for me.

Have a nice anniversary :) xx

  2. LOL @ "well that's what he thinks, i'm going for sephora!"

you've got some neat choices there which won't go wrong! I'm sure you'll be able to pick up some new things to add in your bag even if you don't have space for 10 lippies :)

  3. "Well that's what he thinks, i'm going for sephora!" - you have the right kind of attitude haha.

I tried to cut down on the makeup I took on holiday to Malaysia, and then still wore barely any of it. I did adopt the same kind of philosophy though, not packing much makeup because I knew I was going to buy a tonne XD

  4. I always overpack make up! I'm going to the US next year and I'm also planning a Sephora splurge.

Have fun and I can't wait to see your haul when you get back!

  5. I always over pack, because 1 year I left it all behind on the bed, the horror, I had skincare and that was it, arrived with no shops open and following day a Sunday in the middle of nowhere. So I always pack double now. Mourn deeply the loss of Sephora from UK. Have fun. Jan x
